Re: Day out on the bike

Yep, still have it. 300 hundred kilometers and still going strong (ok it's had a top end rebuild, and some new gears in the gear box). And it cops a flogging, riding in groups keeping up with modern liter bikes making 150+hp.

Day out on the bike

Out for an all day ride today with a group, picture is just a free promotional one from a bloke who hangs out in the corners of popular ride roads (hence all the advertising plastered all over it) . Was a good day till the rain came in just as we were nearing home.

Re: 550 Zephyr 1991 B2 UK bike recommission after stored a few y

could do with removing rear shock springs and painting, will see if i have time next week,. My opinion, don't waste your time painting the springs. Get hold of a suitable size/strength set of progressive springs (really dual rate) and you may be able to get those original shocks to be passable. The...

Re: ZR 550 exhaust collets

It seems the OEM collars are available, and at 3.5 Euro each at CSMnl.com (36 Euro total, say 45 with postage) why would you bother chasing around looking for somethings else which will likely be a poor fit, and cost nearly as much.

Re: front brake hoses

Google "brained brake lines Kawasaki 1100". There seem to be quite a number of suppliers.

Re: keihin cvk 34 carbs zephyr 1100 1993

With that problem, think I'd be contacting a carby specialist repairer to see if the float seat can be resurfaced. If so it would only be a quick job for them with the carby already stripped down.

They must have come across this same problem numerous times so could advise accordingly.

Re: keihin cvk 34 carbs zephyr 1100 1993

That the needle is adjustable suggests to me it may not be stock, and if the needle isn't them reasonable to assume neither may be the jets. I don't own an 1100, but most certainly the needle on the 750 doesn't have adjustable groves and clip. Looking at a parts schematic for an 1100 seems this is t...

Re: keihin cvk 34 carbs zephyr 1100 1993

There will be no set standard jet and needles size. Different jets and needles were fitted by Kawasaki depending on the country and date the bike was sold. As a starting point, go to a website with an online parts schematic e.g. CMSNL, and from there you will see the full range of jets and needles t...

Re: Type of fuel in Australia

Re: Type of fuel in Australia

The owners manual specifies 91 RON which is what is sold in Australia as "Regular Unleaded". DON'T under and circumstances use E10. It alters the AFR and makes it run leaner than what it the engine was designed around. P.S. You won't get any more performance by using higher octane e.g. 95,...
