oil coolers
Hi there, I was wondering if there was anything stopping my from using an oil cooler made for a car on the Zeph? I have a spare 10 row and a 19 row mishimoto oil cooler and was thinking of putting it on the bike. Id need to adapt some AN fittings and lines but thats kind of the easy part. I just was...

Re: Newbie to the zephyr life
I got the bike all back together and started it and there was the rattle. Tightened it abit and the rattle started to disappear. I noticed while the bike was running I could freely turn the tensioner so I adjusted it with the bike running (which seemed dodger to me) and it’s all sweet.. bike is runn...

Re: Newbie to the zephyr life
Yeh I adjusted it while turning the engine over by hand.. I’ve followed the instructions I was given by a guy who manufactures and sells the manual Tensioners so I’m assuming I’ve done it right. So when I started it before it made the loud ratttling (sounds like a rattle can). Would that suggest it ...

Re: Newbie to the zephyr life
Alright so Ive pulled the carbs, pulled the tensioner, made sure it screwed freely, put anti seize on it just to make sure it screws freely, reinstalled it wound it in as far as I could be hand then backed it off 1/4-1/2 turn and locked it down.... I haven’t finished putting everything back together...

Re: Newbie to the zephyr life
I'll pull the tensioner out and make sure its turning smoothly. I wasn't necessarily talking about CV carbs on cars was just referring to aftermarket parts in general. When I had a car with multiple SU carbs I found an old mechanic who turned the car by ear.. it was amazing to watch him tune the car...

Re: Newbie to the zephyr life
I thought I remembered reading in the service manual (I don't have it on me right now so cant say for sure) there is a deflection amount on the chain when it is tensioned that can be measured when the valve cover is off... I could be wrong, which I probably am... As for the air filters I will leave ...

Re: Newbie to the zephyr life
Alright so carbs are coming off and i’ll Take the valve cover off to make sure the chain is tensioned perfectly.... don’t really want too but I thought I better do it properly!! I’ve got some individual filters laying around should I put these on while it’s all apart? I’ve read on the webs that i’ll...

Re: Newbie to the zephyr life
That’s what I thothought!
I’m going to pull it out and see how I go. Do you have to remove the carbs or can you get around it without removing them?

Re: Newbie to the zephyr life
I’ve gone to check the adjustment on the manual tensioner and it wasnt moving in or out. I used a spammer to loosen it abit and it wasn’t tight. So I’ve loosen it up to start from loose and tighten by hand by it won’t move. It feels like the threads are ‘binding’. Can I loosen it all the way out and...
