Re: 91 550 custom restoration

Sorry I missed the last posts about the gear shaft being broken. I haven't been checking in lately. This was the exact same issue I had which led me down the rabbit hole of doing the gear swap for my 750. Obviously, that is not a thing for your 550. It seems daunting, but without the gear swap getti...

Took the Plunge

Got something in the mail a couple days back. Decided to pull the trigger on some new shocks. Didn't want to pay for Ohlins. So I am trying these Yasusu brand shocks. I'll give a report once they are installed.

Re: 91 550 custom restoration

You want your clutch cable to move freely. It should pull relatively easily with some tension. I think you are suppose to grease the ends of the inner cables on the OEM clutch cables. If its not your cable sticking, make damn well sure you have you gear clutch shaft set correctly and your clutch arm...

Re: Digital Dials and LED lights headache

First, the engine light will/should go off once the engine starts. Does the same thing on my dial. The other circuit I would look at is the neutral circuit. You neutral light should be coming on. If it isn't, I am pretty sure the starter circuit won't allow the bike to start. Richard's correct. You ...

Re: Fish's 1992 750C Engine Rebuild and Other Goodies

This bike is officially running. The last couple issues were a broken R/R and a cam tensioner issue. Turns out my M-Unit warns you if there is a problem with the regulator. This was why the horn would honk when the engine was revved. The M-Unit was reading voltages over 16 volts and was attempting t...

Re: Fuel line diagram?

Mines a 750, but I believe everything is quite similar. If you are strictly asking about fuel, then the fuel line is routed from the petcock to the center input on the carbs. I run my fuel line between the to closest carbs with a filter right underneath the carbs and a clear line connected from the ...

Re: 91 550 custom restoration

If the colors are not lining up, you can just use a couple of wires and either the bike battery, another battery, or other 12v source like a DC wall wart type plug to test each connection on the speedo. I have a slight red/green deficiency, so testing wires is almost always necessary. Because you wo...

Re: 91 550 custom restoration

No issues hooking it up, but then I have a whole new electrical system. You are right, there is no way to hook up the gear display. Not a big deal. Without knowing what you have unhooked or not I couldn't begin to tell you why the dash lights did not come up. I remember some strange circuit issues w...
