ZR750 Replacement Fuel Tank
I know Zephyr tanks are a hot topic on here but can't find anything by searching, that might be my computer ability, or lack of. So, I can't help noticing that Japanese and other customisers use what looks like a Z1 or Z900 tank on their Zephyrs. In my opinion they not only improve the look of the b...

Re: Starter Clutch Replaced 5k miles ago - slipping
As a further bulletin I replaced the starter clutch springs only and the idler gear. Cradley kawasaki in the UK have these in stock. It all works pretty flawlessly now. I am using a semi-synthetic oil (Halfords own brand).
I'll let you know on reliability.

Re: Starter Clutch Replaced 5k miles ago - slipping
Re the oil: apologies, I made a mistake, I used a semi-synthetic 10-40 oil called Power 1 from Castrol.
I think the reason for the spring wear and break-up in the starter clutch could have been the slack Primary Chain. I believe the chain was jumping the sprockets at low and high revs.

Re: Starter Clutch Replaced 5k miles ago - slipping
On investigation two out of three springs in the starter clutch were about two thirds the length of a new one and one was broken up completely. So, as well as replacing the HiVo chain and the cam chain, I bought a set of starter clutch springs and a new starter sprocket from Cradley Kawasaki. Have f...

Re: Starter Clutch Replaced 5k miles ago - slipping
Some interesting replies guys, thank you. Just to clarify I did not replace the driven gear/hub. I think it must have been unavailable at the time, the hub is rutted. Also I use Mobil 1 semi synthetic which probably hasn’t helped. I think a ZR7 starter clutch sounds like a good idea.

Starter Clutch Replaced 5k miles ago - slipping
I have a 1991 750 C1. Rebuilt the engine in 2011, fitted original starter clutch as couldn't find anything wrong with it. Engine wouldn't turn over properly. Fitted repair kit, same result. Fitted new starter clutch, problem went away. Now, 5k miles later, the starter motor just spins over, won't tu...
