Re: Fuel system tips, anyone got carb diagrams?

Just a little update in case anyone is interested, I started pulling the carbs apart, was just going to pull the bowls off the bottom, pull the jets, then clean them all up and blow out the passages. Next minute I have four carb bodies with a bunch of parts sitting next to them. and found some fun. ...

Re: Fuel system tips, anyone got carb diagrams?

What have you set the pilot mix screws at? Haynes says they should be 1 3/4 to 2 1/4 turns out. I'd go for the larger 2 1/4 turns out. The other specs I'd check seeing you probably don't know if changes were ever made in the past are.... Float heights are 15.0 to 17.0 mm Pilot jet #35 Pilot air jet...

Re: Fuel system tips, anyone got carb diagrams?

but not sure how much difference exactly it will make, A practical example of just how much difference a correctly operating stock airbox makes to a CV type carburetor. Bike is a 750, not your 550. Following some 'advice' from a related model forum, I once removed the rubber block that sits in the ...

Re: Fuel tap

Amongst the several things I need to do to get my 550 on the road, I got a kit and rebuilt the fuel tap, seems to work properly now and not leak. The diaphragm needs to be gently squished in and pushed through the hole. I managed to fit a small inline filter just above the left carb, I got some pref...

Re: Fuel system tips, anyone got carb diagrams?

Just another update, after cleaning out everything I could get to, and fitting some pre shaped fuel lines so they wouldn't kink, and adding a right angle to the vacuum line to the fuel tap, it now runs, of a sort, definitely running on all four because the pipes are all hot, if I tickle it just righ...

Re: Fuel system tips, anyone got carb diagrams?

Thanks guys, I've had a bit of experience with car carbs, but not the CV style as used on these bikes. I have cleaned, carefully, the main and pilot jets, which were both blocked on the most problematic carb, I didn't even know there was a pilot jet peened in place the first time around, but I belie...

Re: Fuel system tips to get 550 running please

How is the valve clearance set on these things? And does anyone have an exploded and detailed diagram of where all the drillings and passages are through these CV carbs? I've got them off again to go over and make sure everything is clean since it is obvious the original problem was actually the lea...

Re: Hi, from the middle of Australia

Has anyone got a decent diagram of where the drillings and passages go in these CV carbs? Seems to have a blocked idle circuit on at least one of the carbs, I cleaned out the main jet and the pilot?? jet that is pressed into place, and can blow compressed air through the air bleed side of things, bu...

Re: Hi, from the middle of Australia

OK, so it is not going to run 'correctly' without the annoying ducts to the airbox and the guess how it goes together air filter, but will it run and rev OK unloaded? I'm going to guess it will, but at the moment it seems to only be running on 3 cylinders, judging by exhaust pipe temps, once I get i...

Re: Hi, from the middle of Australia

I popped into the post office this morning (Tuesday) on my way to work and picked up my fuel tap kit, then put it together during my lunch break at work. I didn't take any pictures, but I understand there is supposed to be a short gauze filter and a tube with a gauze filter for the main and reserve ...
