Re: Stu's Zephyr 750 C1 Restomisation Project

So, all novels have to have an ending... As I mentioned above, I wrote off my 1050 Speed Triple in February in a stupid, low speed, cold new tyre plus roundabout lack-of-adhesion incident, and broke my wrist. While still incapacitated, I suddenly got an offer for the Zephyr that wasn't a milli...

Re: Stu's Zephyr 750 C1 Restomisation Project

Hi guys, haven't been in here for a while... yes, it's been on eBay a couple of times, but nobody is biting and I'm not giving it away; I have too much investment in it, in hours, blood, sweat and tears as well as £££. I also have a 1976 Guzzi T3, which is much more my kind of bike; less frantic and...

Re: Stu's Zephyr 750 C1 Restomisation Project

Chuffed with myself tonight as I've solved both things I was having problems with in an hour or so of fiddling. The Delkevic exhaust was really loud. Even with an additional dB killer in, and wearing earplugs, it was intrusive. Not a nice sound either... high pitched and screamy. Anyway I pulled all...

Re: Stu's Zephyr 750 C1 Restomisation Project

Thanks, Swamps... yeah, pretty happy so far. I built it as a rider, not a show bike... but it feels like I've got the mechanical bits right; she runs like a new bike. If I'm going to keep and use the bike (which is a question for the future as I have three and really only need one. The old Guzzi is ...

Re: Stu's Zephyr 750 C1 Restomisation Project

Oh dear, haven't posted since Christmas! The Zephyr project has been sitting in the back of the garage first through the cold, wet winter and spring, and then the Covid lock down. On the odd occasion I've ridden this year it's been on the big 1200GS, which seems heavier, more enormous and more super...

Re: I'm back, I hope...

Hi Richard... great to hear from you, and hear that things are somewhat back to normal (whatever that is these days!). My own Zephyr has been together for about 4 months or more now, but has done the total of about 10 miles. Weather was too horrible to consider taking it out and then as the sun came...

Re: Aaaaagh F@#%!

 Was the subject of several emails between me and their "engineer". I gave an option with used part, but he used the prices for new parts and added in my labour at £20/hr... OK, then! I'd have been relatively happy with the price of a used barrel, reboring and a few gaskets (which is ...

Re: Aaaaagh F@#%!

Had a note from the insurance assessor last night.

He's recommending a cash settlement "in lieu of repair" of £1628...

I've accepted that as it seems fair ;)

Re: 750 barrels

Maybe stick four of my pistons in it and stick it on eBay. I just paid £100 for one. ;)

Re: 750 barrels

Thanks, Shedman, much appreciated, but I jumped the gun and grabbed a set on eBay.

Looks like insurance company are paying out (a new barrel is available at a mere £1100, )

I'll have some spare standard pistons (maybe 7!) if anybody needs them.
