Out of curiosity, is it possible to take a 6 speed ZR550 transmission and replace the 5 speed in the ZR750 engine?

Re: Bar raisers
Well, I highjacked this thread a few months ago, I might as well keep updating it. After riding for a while on my second set of bar raisers, I was still looking for a more upright position. I brought a third set of risers and stack them together with my second set. This gave me a total of 75mm rise ...

Re: 17 tooth gearbox sprocket zr550
I am happy with my 16/39 combination. That is 6.25% less rpm at the same speed than the stock 15/39. The 16/38 combo will be about 9% less than stock. I don't plan to experiment with 16/38. Leaving well enough alone.

What a difference a new set of plugs makes
I just picked up my 1992 ZR750C from the shop. They put in a new set of iridium plugs along with other works. My bike had 29300km on its original plugs. The old plugs still looked ok, but what a difference! Feels like the bike just added 10 more horsepower. Can't believe it, I just flew right up the...

Re: 17 tooth gearbox sprocket zr550
I took the sage advice from this site and experimented with a 16T front sprocket. The stock sprocket for my ZR750C is 15T. It does reduce the RPM by about 400 to 500 rpm at hiway speed which makes a calmer ride. What I like about it is at city speed, I can keep the bike in 3rd gear and stay in the p...

Re: Chain slack - 750
I was talking to the owner of the shop where I fix my bikes about chain slack only a fews weeks ago. He said the you only compress the suspension to adjust the chain slack on dirt bikes and off road bikes. For street bikes, you just adjust the chain with the bike on its centre stand. Reason being, d...

Re: Throttle cable alternative
W, thanks, I hope 150mm is not too long too. Anyways, I ordered them, they are on their way. With the new setup, my bar will position about 53mm higher with 35mm more pull back. I think that will get it to where I like it.

Re: Throttle cable alternative
Hungry Wilf, thank you for the suggestions. I found a place in Japan that sells ready made extra long throttle cables, choke cable, and cutch cable for the Zephyr. They are 150mm longer than stock. They have other lengths too. This place is https://japan.webike.net/ . I bought my rear carrier from t...

Throttle cable alternative
I am looking to add another bar raiser to my ZR750. I am hoping for a more upright riding position similar to a Vstrom. I maxed out the throttle cable length when I install the first bar raiser. Does anyone know what the length of the OEM throttle cable is? Is there a set of cables from another Kawa...
