Removed and rebuilt the front calipers this afternoon. Dismantled them, cleaned everything, polished the pistons, fitted new seals, lubed everything with rubber safe synthetic grease, reassembled, and refitted. Bleed the front brakes.
Reckon it took about 1 hour in total. Straightforward job.

Re: 750 5 speed to 6 speed swap
All, I guess I just want a six speed gearbox! Manual cars used to come with 4 speeds, now they're pretty much all 6 speed, and I wouldn't want to go back. Having a 6th speed (with 5th roughly where the bike presently has 5th) could only be an advantage - you want to hum around in 5th, well, do that...

Re: Falls flat at low RPMs and hanging idle
After installing a Kerker 4-1 header and the Factory Pro 1.0 Carb Kit I’ve been experiencing the bike falling flat on its face after coming down from around 4000rpm and above. My thoughts. Stick EVERYTHING back to stock. Look up an online carburettor parts schematic for your model, and find what ma...

Re: What have you done today, Zephyr-wise?
You have been busy Freddy :) . It is always nice to fit new genuine parts, if you can get them. So far never not been able to get new bits I've needed. Went for a long country back roads ride today with a group of about dozen riders, bike handled really well with the rebuilt front suspension. Next ...

Re: What have you done today, Zephyr-wise?
Just gave the old girl a major service, and rebuilt the front suspension. Valves clearances, sync carbies, oil change, new spark plugs, replace air cleaner element, and all the other routine tasks like grease the swing arm, adjust chain slack, adjust steering head bearings etc. Had a set of new fron...

I can go on some 300 kilometer or so ride just about any weekend, weekdays for that matter also. Also several day trips reg...

Re: What have you done today, Zephyr-wise?
Speaking of 'mileages', the 750 odometer just rolled over the maximum 99,999 kilometers back to zero..... for the second time. The bike had some 30K kilometers when I bought it so that means I've racked up over 170,000 kilometers on it. Still goes great.

Re: 1992 ZR1100 Shocks
The Wilbers Ecoline doesn't have adjustable rebound damping, let alone compression damping. It'd be just a fluke if someone was to get the ride and handling they wanted without fine tuning at a minimum rebound damping.andye wrote: Wilbers also do an Ecoline which may be worth checking out.

Re: 1992 ZR1100 Shocks
"a good well priced set". There in lies your problem. It's a bit like the old saying, "there are old pilots, and there are bold pilots, but there are no old bold pilots". You DO get what you pay for in shocks. I have a set of Wilbers 633 TS on a 750 and they are very good, they m...
