1100 B1 Newby

Post by DaveZ1 »

Hi everyone Zephyr Newby here just thought I’d introduce myself. Recently acquired my first Zephyr a nice 98 model B1 with spoked wheels. She’s in pretty good shape with less than 28000miles up. As my tag suggests my background is in all things restoration of early Z1s. I really like the zephyrs I’ve seen in Z1 guise and this is going to be my next project. Going the whole hog with a complete restoration with Z1 paint and badges and maybe even Z1 style 4 into 4 pipes. I look forward to chatting with you guys and hopefully picking your brains when I need a leg up on Zephyr info. I will post some pictures of the project along the way once I figure things out.
Cheers Dave.

Thats nice. Seen the 4 into 4 exhausts and they look really cool. Would you buy one or make it yourself?

Thanks for the welcome! I’m up in the north east in Sunderland and bought the bike recently quite locally from a guy who hadn’t used it for the last 5 or six years so will need a bit TLC. Thought the paint was original but after a little research on model history etc found out that U.K. B1s only came in grey os red? Struggling to find info on year of manufacture and engine and frame numbers just to confirm that the bike has original engine etc. No reason to think otherwise but it’s nice to know.
I think Doremi still do the 4 into 4 pipes but mega moolah to get them over here with import duty etc.
Dave at Cybike is sorting me a price to the door so will know what it’s going to cost next week.

Hi Dave,
Welcome to the zone you should find all the info you need on here somewhere!. Good looking bike you've got there which you're right would have been red or grey originally, looks like the proper zephyr green from the earlier bikes so maybe someone just swapped all the bodywork over?. If you haven't seen it already on here check out the "zephyr spotted" section and look at the "I'll go first" thread. I took that at the Stafford show and it's a lovely Green Zephyr with 4 into 4 pipes and Z1b paint.... No tassle grips though!!
Be interested to hear about your Z1's, I'm doing up a 78 Z1000 at the moment to go with my modded Zephyr 1100

Cheers eddie

Hi Eddie fantastic looking Zephyr with the 4 into 4s that’s pretty much the look I’m going for with maybe 73 paint scheme in yellow or orange. I like the black engine with polished fin edges like the early Z1s too.

Wow that’s a very nice looking bike. How long have you had your pipes and where they expensive?
I have been quoted £1600 including delivery from Cybike in the U.K.
I really like the Z1B paintwork but I’m thinking of the early Z1 scheme in yellow with black engine and polished cases.
