Congrats! Time will tell for how long its fixed...
Were you able to do this without removing the carbs?
What about the ticking sound that was also present?

Re: Another Startup Diagnosis (w/Video)
The carbs had to come out, and since I was there already I took the air box out, and cleaned up a lot of stuff that hadn’t seen daylight in a long time. Everything still sounds the same except the now gone cam chain noise. I should probably give it a full proper carb clean and synch, valve adjustment, and oil change sooner than later, but I didn’t want to have my daily commuter down all week. I will say that so far warmup has been quicker, and she seems to be steadier at the tach while pulling along. I think the new air filter is a big part of that.
A breeze from the west.

Whelp, the noise is back. I’d forgotten just how loud and obnoxious it is, but boy is it ever.
The bike has been running great and the cam chain noise still goes away after some warm up time. But damn that was June that I had to fix it last, and here I am again.

Maybe better to install the manual tensioner this time?
