Zephyr 1100 A2 head bearings

Post by Ivor »

piecing together the head bearings on my 1100 A2 which has been apart for 'a while' . I have the new bearings and seals but he bottom yoke has a machined collar which is preventing the bearing seal and race seating right down on the yoke properly. does anything else go here or is there supposed to be a gap (and have I got the seal the right way up ?), cheers

no there shouldn't be a gap - but your Yoke is ok, looks like every other one from a 1100!
as is see you use ab aftermarket seal with a thin Steel plate on the bottom. the inner Diameter of this seal is to small so it won't fit the collar of the Yoke.
the OEM part has a bitter inner diameter and is thicker so ist compensates the collar and gives a flat level for the Bearing. the Bearing has to sit on the collar.

get the original Seal an your Problem is gone ;)

I Dremel'd the metal inner plate of the seal to fit the collar on the bottom yoke to suit and all back together now , cheers .
