Kr1 wheels
Kr1 wheels
I have read somewhere about someone fitting Kr1 wheels to a 550 saving a lot of weight. Anyone know about any problems? Also I have seen two different types, 5 spoke and 3 spoke, which is preferred?

Re: Kr1 wheels
hi it was me with the kr1 wheels the three spoke type
yes the axles are the same sizes for both bikes you need to make some spacers the fornt discs are 5mm closer on the kr front wheel but the sliding front calipers make up for it no problems
the back brake you can use the kr disc but I used the kr rear caliper as well by mounting the brake torque arm from the kr ,two simple tabs welded to the underside of the zr550 swingarm ,sounds a little dickie but it works so much better
I also used the kr sprocket carryer and cush drive with a JT sproket (ask alocal bike shop if you can look through there cataloge )
Hope this helps
Just to point out again the front is half the weight and the rear is two thirds the weight of the originals ! stop ,go and turn all improve instantly.
give me shout if you need any more help
