Newbie

Post by Monty9120 »

Hi all doing up a zephyr 1100 for my father in law. Bike came to me non running with various issues

Carb strip and clean
New fork seals
Rear brake stripped and new seals

The bike itself has been used and has the usual corrosion

I'm after a new tank for it though as it's got a split at the seam. What other models fit right on?

The bike has been painted... badly so needs doing

Runs a treat though

I also have a gpz1100 project and a z750s 2006 model as my main bike fitted with a 1000 engine

Hi Monty,

Not sure what the tank looks like but I would try to get it restored. Mine was all rusted with pin holes in the lowest bottom area, cleaned it up and got it fixed with silver soldering. Doesn't look nice but since this is the under side it's not a real problem.

Replacement tanks are hard to get and quality will vary greatly (they are notoriously known to have leaks...)

Hi Monty, I don't know anything about the 1100's either but good luck with it.

Something like Petseal which coats the inside of the tank might help with small weeps
