1100 2nd gear notchy

Post by Stue »

Hi ,
New to the forum, have a 1992 1100 , 26,000 miles . 1st to 2nd is very notchy . Has anyone any experience of fitting a “ Factory Pro” shift kit .
Thanks
Stu

There is video on that

I also install that. But I don't know does it help to your problem. It's easy mod to do, but little expensive.
You could also try different oil.

Thanks for your reply. Feels like a winter job . I am thinking of replacing the oil with a 20w-50 oil

Different model, a 750. Replacing the clutch basket (or reconditioning the existing one with new damper rubbers) completely rectified the VERY notchy 1st to 2nd gear change. Have no idea whatsoever whether or not an 1100 uses the same design.

I believe the 1100 clutch basket has metal springs instead of rubber dampers.
