Any suggestions for stainless brake lines?
And am I correct in thinking I should probably replace mine even though they look fine? I'm pretty sure they're original (27 years old now).

Those look very nice indded.
How was the fit? Same configuration/lengths as stock?
Notice any difference in performance?
Any chance of posting a pic of them installed?

I always use Wezmoto. Lots of colour choices and can be made longer or shorter at no extra cost. Find them on ebay.

Same length as stock I presume. They are a tight fit if you use Renthal lows. Plenty of room with the ultra lows, and too short for the mids. Don't know how well they fit stock bars.Zaddict wrote:Those look very nice indded.

I never rode the bike with the stock lines, so I don't know if they perform better or not. I do know they are not nearly 30 years old though!
I got the "carbolook" or smoked covers with black fittings and their "stealth" option, which is just some heavy duty shrink wrap over the end of the lines. They look like black lines until you get them in some light, at which point you can see they are braided stainless.

I used HEL lines on my 550,very satisfied with them.
Would recommend the "race" setup with two lines all the way.
That splitter makes it very difficult to bleed the lines properly...

Cheapest around, excellent quality and very helpful.

So that dispenses with the splitter altogether? Trying to picture how that would work. Is it something like this, with two lines coming off the master cylinder?vambo wrote:I used HEL lines on my 550,very satisfied with them.

Re: Any suggestions for stainless brake lines?
The downside to that setup is if you decide to change bars. Going lower shouldn't be a problem, but if you decide to go with higher bars then you have to buy two new lines instead of one. If you are happy with your bars then go for it.
As for bleeding, it wasn't as easy as my dirt bike with one caliper, but they bled easy enough I wouldn't sweat it if you want to keep the splitter.
