Every workshop should have a bench grinder. Inexpensive and one of the most useful bits of workshop kit going (stone on one end, wire brush the other).

Adapters to fit commercial polishing wheel to bench grinders are easily obtained. It won't have the 'grunt' of a dedicated polishing machine, but it will work. Commercial full size polishing wheels and appropriate compound will make light work of polishing an exhaust. For either stainless or chrome, a stitched cotton wheel and 'green' compound is the way to go.

Once you've done it this way you will never even think of polishing something by hand again. For really hard to get into places another adapter is also available to fit a full size wheels to a hand held sander/polisher machine.

I picked up a bench grinder and all the mops and polishing gear a while ago at an autojumble for peanuts , and its one of the best things I've bought for the workshop, it does make the job so much easier and a great finish can be done.

Took me most of a weekend but well worth it :)

Oil cooler next job on the list, I've already repainted the end caps and am now carefully straightening all the fins before paint, once that's back on I can fire the motor up :D happy days

Yep as soon as the oil cooler is finished and fitted I'll be firing it up :D , I did run it after the crash and it ran fine so I'm not expecting any issues.....but you never know! I will video it and try and put it on you tube for you swamps, I can't put the silencer back on so it will sound pretty fruity!!

Still lots to do, but to hear it again will be great 8-)
