Cheers everybody! I´m new to this forum and this is my first post. Many years ago I had a Z900 and am now looking to get a new project bike, a Zephyr 1100. Are there any good books where I can find information about the bike and a workshop manual available you will recommend? What about common problems, anything I should be aware of and check out before I make a decision? My plans for the bike is to keep it original with some slight modifications to improve handling. See forward to be a part of this community and share start working on my project. :)

Hi Zed,
Welcome to the Zone.

I only have a little 750 so can't help with specific 1100 related issues. But plenty of active others who do have an 1100.

When you get around to suspension improvement happy to share some ideas because stock suspensions are pretty similar.

Freddy.

Hi Zed

Welcome to the Zephyr zone.

There are a few posts on hear about 1100’s jumping out of gear, there is a fix available for it. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=118#p563 Hopefully the link to some posts in the Mechanical section will work.

Good luck with your project.

Dennis

Thanks :) It is a workshop manual for 1993 models available. What are there main differences from 93 to 96 Zephyr models?

To my knowledge there are not major changes in 92 to 96 models. And in Japan there is rs version 2007, also very small changes.
Manual and good info here:

hi and welcome Zed , the problems I've had with my 1100 were the headstock bearings were literally in bits as they are pretty heavy bikes and the front discs had some cracks in , and poor idle speed could be one of the vacuum hoses come off , good luck and happy hunting :)

I actually bought a bike today :) A 96 model in good shape with wire wheels. Hope to bring it home in a week or two and start finding out what to do first. The spokes are rather faded, wonder if they can be brought up to former glory or if it is easier to buy a new set. Probably there will not be much driving this season. Will post some pics soon!
