Oil pressure switch sealing?

Post by Heron »

Hi, I’m doing a remove the oil pan and check the strainer oil change ( all clear by the way) . The Removed oil pressure switch has no oil seal but the remains of some compound. Is there a recommended thread seal or will tread tape be adequate?

Not doing the strainer job again. Struggling getting the pan back on. Rubber hose and plastic oil filter causing grief. Leave it and have a go tomorrow.

Should just read the manual  It recommends silicon sealant. Pan on, used a bit of silicon grease to keep the oil breather tube in place.
Just waiting for the various banjo gaskets from MSP in the Netherlands https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/en , Could not find them at Wemoto. Big job just to check the strainer .

Hi Herron sorry just seen this post, re the oil pressure switch , thread tape will be fine for that job. I've always used it for that sort of thing at work , oil drain plus etc. PTFE thread tape is good for 150 deg C and about 20bar
