Long overdue but started with the front of the bike. Brakes are a mess, previous owner rode the bike all year so a lot is corroded by salt from the road in winter time. When used they don't disengage at all and both discs are out of spec. So time for a good overhaul, will replace discs, break shoes and all rubbers. Will also clean and 2k paint the calipers nicely red.

Spend some time this afternoon and cleaned one of the calipers with this result, ready for the 2k paint job ;)

Pitty though I received a message from my supplier Japparts, the EBC discs have a delivery time of almost 2 weeks :(

So I did have the fuel lock issue again meaning the petcock isn't closed when the engine isn't running. This evening I checked the petcock. There's a membrane inside which should be closing off the fuel when the engine is shut down, it should only open by the vacuüm created by the engine. It's a non serviceable part but I did have a look and found a deposit of rust particles inside explaining why the petcock was leaking fuel. Cleaned it up and rebuild it but was still leaking fuel though.

So...

Tonight I ordered a new one at CMS. Only 100€... Their stock is however running low...

p.s. As I previously ordered a refurbish kit, I checked the contents and it does have a new membrane. So maybe for over 30 years...

So the paint job went perfectly well. This evening I rebuild the calipers using a refurbishment kit with new rubbers and obviously I installed new break shoes. Here are a few impression pictures, I'm happy with the result, just a shame I have to wait on the discs for a little while longer...

Brake fluid, or synthetic silicone grease for piston/seal assembly?
