Had a full day on the 550, polished the f and r wheel spokes and rims, refitted the f tyre (without innertube as the wheels now seals the tyre). found a v good match for the caliper paint, Ford Mercury Grey, vapour blasted them again and painted the calipers plus f discs, put the mudguard extender on the f mudguard and installed it. Finally painted the panel in the sprocket cover. time flew.

Looking good! What is your process for polishing the wheels? I can think of a couple of ways I would try to do it, but any of them would take me many hours, where you seem to have got it done fast.

Not fast at all. scotchbrite wheel on demil then 800 w/dry, took all day for both.

new f brake pistons and seals fitted

here is the f wheel with the calipers fitted after painted (Ford mercury grey) also fitted f mudguard extender.

Very cool. Makes me miss that lovely Candy Atlantic Blue that my bike used to be.

My opinion, don't waste your time painting the springs. Get hold of a suitable size/strength set of progressive springs (really dual rate) and you may be able to get those original shocks to be passable. There is a solid reason NO shock manufacturer today sells twin rear shock with linear springs, and this has been the case for quite some time. A set of springs are not that expensive.
