I've picked up a shed of Zephyr 550 that has stood outside under a cover for 10 years. As you can imagine, rust, corrosion and general decay have taken hold, but it is redeemable and all the bits are there. Most importantly, the tank is solid despite or because of, the old stale fuel in it ! The engine however had the carbs removed, so the inlets have been open to the elements
Also the engine number is different on the V5, so it's been changed at some point and is an unknown quantity.Now, I like a project and I've seen a few 550s where a GPz/GPX 600 engine has been fitted and I'm keen to hear from anyone on here who has done this particular modification. I happen to have a GPX600 engine, carbs, CDI sitting under the bench in the garage (as you do !), so I'd like to know what it entails and any potential "gotchas".
