Upside Down forks for my ZR750C1

Post by Richard »

The last few weeks I've been looking for a way to mount UPSD forks. Did some measurements on my machine and had some correspondence with a few sellers on Marktplaats (Dutch Ebay). Thus far the only Kawasaki ones coming close to the same length (775mm from axle center to top of leg) are from a ZX9R, they are however still 5mm short. I wonder if someone else has done this and where they were sourced from?

By the way, I know I can source them new from Ohlins too but for an incredible high price, too high for me anyway...

Just so you get an idea: Ohlins FG-324
Only 2355 Euro, that's a real bargain, not!

This is a pair from the ZX9R, obviously lots has to be changed too before this can be fitted...

From the giveaway blue-spot calipers, I'd suggest that front end is off a Yamaha. Early R1, maybe?

Could be, although it's not an exact match with the R1. But I'll put it on my list as possible candidate

Thx Stu!

I had a quick read of the thread - you'd wanna be keen for USDs to go to that much trouble? I might be an old stodge but from what I've seen USDs don't make much difference on the street - but are designed for that little 'extra' at the track? Am I wrong??

this was the bike when I got it, I rode it for about a year like this while I collected the parts I needed for the back end so I was quite familiar with the handling

I think the main reason people put them on bikes like Zephyrs is the looks. And they do look pretty good.
Mostly they are better because of the cartridge damping, which you can get in Right way up Forks but you certainly don't get in a Zephyr.
